What the trek is like

The path runs between canyons. As you climb, the vegetation changes into pine and oak forest. If the sky opens, from the summit you can see from the Pacific to the Sea of Cortez.

Day 1: we set off at dawn twilight. The hike up can take almost the whole day. Recommended pace: 50 minutes walking and 10 resting, to eat and drink.

Valley days: looser. You can go to the Picacho, one of the highest peaks in the range and in Baja California Sur, to the waterfalls for a swim, or to both.

Last day: the hike down, a little after twilight. It can also take almost the whole day, at the same pace.

In short

  • Three days minimum in Sierra La Laguna.
  • Camping and campfires only at El Segundo Valle.
  • A natural area protected by CONANP.
  • No clear view, Picacho or swim is guaranteed.

The 3 trails

The hike up and the hike down can be different. The meeting point depends on the ascent trail and the finish on the descent trail. Each ranch charges differently for the mule, allows a different weight, and the mule driver takes 2 or 3 mules depending on the route. Distance, elevation gain and hours are confirmed when you choose the route.

Trail

La Rueda
