Insurance, places, km, and route
Insurance
Every quote includes basic insurance and taxes. Basic is required: civil liability and third-party damage. Premium insurance, with tires and windows, is an optional extra.
Places
Vehicles may be driven only on the Baja peninsula. Pick up and drop off at no extra fee: Los Cabos and Tijuana. Extra fee: La Paz and Ensenada. A one-way Los Cabos–Tijuana drop off, or the reverse, has a drop-off charge; we recommend at least 10 days for that trip.
Kilometers
Each rental includes km based on the days. Overage is MXN $8 per km. Route planning helps build a drive inside that allowance.
Route and help
- Mechanical emergency: contact us for remote help or a service call based on your location. Extra costs may apply.
- Recommended app: iOverlander, for campsites checked by other travelers.
- Custom trip: MXN $800. A video call about your interests, then a PDF with an optimized route. It also helps fit the drive to the included km.
Toilet on board: what to expect
These trucks have no toilet. Options: a cat hole (shovel included) or RV parks with a bathroom and shower, which route planning can point out. RV parks are independent and not included; they cost extra.
Cat hole: about 15 to 20 cm deep and 15 cm wide, at least 60 m from water, a trail, or camp. Cover it with the soil you removed and leave the spot natural. Do not bury toilet paper or wipes. Bag them and carry them out until you can dispose of them properly.
Requirements
- Minimum age 25.
- Valid driver’s license.
- Security deposit of MXN $15,000 on a credit card.
